La grotte s'ouvre au sud-est dans le fossé de la route D41, sur la rive droite de la vallée du Célé.

Proximity:

Le hameau de Sauliac et le village de Cabrerets se trouvent respectivement à 1,5 km en amont et 6 km en aval

La grotte est formée d'une galerie sèche longue de 30 m, large et haute de 1 à 2 m. L'entrée préhistorique a été amputée par la construction de la route. A 22 m de l'entrée actuelle, sur le côté d'une coupole, on distingue un arrière-train de bovidé gravé, dont l'avant a été érodé. 5 m plus loin, un signe complexe est également abîmé par l'exfoliation de la calcite. Un autre signe, presque entièrement détruit, se trouvait à proximité, ainsi qu'un 3e signe formé de deux angles croisés.

Un des signes est comparable aux tectiformes du Pech-Merle, du Combel et du Castillo. Le signe en angles croisés évoque certains signes de Lascaux, le Gabillou, Bayol et la grotte Christian, ce qui suggère une attribution au style III de Leroi-Gourhan.
