Geography:
La Cueva de Tortosillas se encuentra en el Cerro del Bosque, muy cerca de la Cueva de la Vieja. Desde la Masía de Tortosillas se comienza la ascensión a pie, ladera arriba por un camino de mediana pendiente que a un km. aproximadamente nos acerca a una serie de abrigos excavados en el primer estrato que aflora del terreno. En uno de ellos, fácil de reconocer por ser el destacadamente más profundo de esta parte, se encuentran las pinturas. Es un abrigo semi-esférico de calizas poco compactas de 3'25 metros de longitud en su entrada, profundidad máxima de dos metros y una altura de 3 metros cuya ceja voladiza, que lo resguarda por arriba, corre a través de muchos metros abrigando debajo esta multitud de oquedades, la mayoría de las cuales y por un proceso de descascarillado superficial, debido a la poca coherencia de la roca, ha perdido su capa superficial y por tanto la posibilidad de encontrarse pinturas en ellos. Esta Cueva de Tortosillas es uno de los pocos covachos que conservan en parte su pátina superficial. Su altitud es de 1.000 m. sobre el nivel del mar y su orientación general de ESE (120º).

EuroPreArt, European Prehistoric Art, is a web-based archaeological project funded by the European Union which aims to establish a lasting data-base of European prehistoric art documentation, to launch the base of an European institutional network and to contribute to the awareness of the diversity and richness of European Prehistoric Art.
