La grotte est un conduit exigu, long d'une quarantaine de mètres. Les cinq figures connues se trouvent dans une petite salle à 24 m de l'entrée. On distingue 3 bisons noirs, longs de 1 m à 1,5 m, une figure délavée (autre probable bison) et une figure indéterminée. Les animaux sont clairement disposés par rapport à des fissures naturelles des parois. Le style est réaliste, les proportions correctes.

La grotte et les figures sont découvertes par J.P. Lagasquie et L. Brun le 18 novembre 1978; ceux-ci réalisent le relevé topographique. Le relevé des figures, incluant des photographies infrarouge, est exécuté par M. Lorblanchet.
