O monumento implanta-se quase no limite oeste de uma área de amplo vale, alimentada por diversas linhas de água que correm para o rio Torto, afluente do rio Douro, à altitude aproximada de 825 m, aproveitando os últimos contrafortes da serra do Medonho. Encontrando -se a paisagem em redor do monumento profundamente humanizada

Proximity:

Junto à estrada E.N.229, entre os km 24 e 25, distando cerca de 75 m/SO. Do antigo campo de futebol, perto da vila do Penedono. No Vale de Maria Pais, na periferia oeste da "Quinta dos Carvalhais".

Covinhas; Representação Solar; Grande cova central, absolutamente regular e alisada , delimitada por um círculo, entre a cavidade e o circulo existe um rebordo convexo em alto relevo. A figura em volta do rebordo foi feita a partir do rebaixamento da superfície do bloco megalítico

Notes:

O menir foi encontrado pelo proprietário da "Quinta dos Carvalhais", quando o "atropelou" com um retroescavadora. Tendo removido-o local original. O "atropelamento" do menir deixou as suas cicatrizes.
