Geology: |

Abstract: Vermelhosa it's a rock art open-air site of Vale do Côa Archaeological Park. It's located on the left margin of Douro river, and integrates 8 schist engraved rocks. Vermelhosa rock art, is mostly represented by zoomorphic semi-esquematic mothifs; fight scenes between warriors with bird-heads armed with spears; anthropomorphs riding horses and naturalistic zoomorphs. These engravings are dated from Palaeolithic and Iron Age, and were made by scratching technique. |
