Abstract: Ribeira de Piscos it's an open-air Rock Art site of Vale do Côa Archaeological Park (Vila Nova de Foz Côa). It's located on the left side of Côa River, and integrates arround 20 decorated surfaces. The most relevant is rock 2, where it's represented the famous engraving of "Homem de Piscos" (Man of Piscos), with a sexual conotation. Beside this figure, there are also zoomorphic representations, namely, horses, goats, auroches, etc. The most common engraving techniques used are, pecking, scratching and abrading. |
